I have been telling the boys that I’m making them backpacks
and with much enthusiasm Ben has asked me several times since then, “Are you
making my packpack?” He thinks I should be able to whip it up instantly and
hand it to him. Well this morning I was finally able to give them their “packpacks”
along with a little drawstring bag in which to stow their treasures.
Ben
immediately put his special blanket (DeeDee) in his “packpack” and cars in his
drawstring bag and went outside to ride his bike.
Without realizing it I
created the perfect solution to one of his biggest dilemmas - how to play
outside with his blanket without getting it dirty.
I found the pattern on Made By Rae. This is the 2nd pattern of hers that I’ve tried and I plan on making her Lickety Split bag soon. I think she’s a genius! The fabric was selected by the boys themselves at Sew to Speak. Miles picked the pirates and Ben the race cars. This pattern had many steps but it was easy to follow and fun to watch come together.
*Amazing* job on the Packpacks mama!!
By the way, that is the cutest word ever ; )
Your boys look so sweet!

Thanks for the sweet reply.. and now I've popped back over here to a great surprise! You sew !
I've checked out the link to Made By Rae , thank you so much. I am anxious to get the sewing machine out soon, when school resumes, and have quite the list of projects.
You did an amazing job on the backpacks, I would never have thought to tackle them and am inspired. Besides, Rae is my maiden name :). I don't think my older kids would like them.. but they will make great gifts.
Thanks again.. love your site.

Made my way to your blog from the Sew to Speak flickr group. You had mentioned that you made backpacks with this pirate material and I just had to see. These are great! (As well as your other projects!)
I may have to pick up some more of this fabric - maybe in a "girly" version, and make one of these backpacks for my soon-to-be-three year old. Thanks for the link to the pattern!
