The baseball season ended. Ben was ready for it to be over. Miles is looking ahead to the next sport. He's playing golf in the yard and looking ahead to hockey season. After all of this hot weather, sititng in a cold ice arena sounds pretty nice.
We're in the middle of the installation of our geothermal system and while we wait we've had a never ending heatwave. The boys have had to sleep in the living room because the upstairs has been too hot.
Tim turned 39 and requested a cake using blueberries. We went here to pick berries and I used this recipe. It turned out delicious!
The heat has been unbearable lately. We've had several days at or close to 100 degrees and we all have found the coolest spots in and out of the house including the cats.
In the midst of the heatwave we had a windstorm that knocked out our power for 9 days. 9 days. That's a long time to be without power. Luckily we did have a generator but I'm not sure having some power was worth having to listen to ours and our neighbors generator. In the middle of our blackout our town went on with it's 4th of July festival. We went for 3 days and Miles won a goldfish that lived for about 10 days. When it died he made this gravemarker and buried it himself.
The garden continues to grow with the help of some watering. We did loose the tallest sunflower in the garden before it bloomed to the windstorm but a few others survived.
And I've finally felt the urge to get back to sewing and knitting.
I have a friend and a few sister-in-laws that are expecting babies this fall and winter and so I'm feeling inspired to make some tiny things for them. I love making teeny tiny things for brand new babies.
Well we're gearing up to survive another 100 degree day. I'm headed out to the coop to give the chickens some extra water.
geothermal sounds interesting! I don't hear of many people getting them here. Are they more popular there?
happy birthday to your husband!
And you look like you've been having a good time.
